MIR Launches Campaign to Give Our Youngest Fans and Future Racers a Safer Place to Play

As part of a massive wave of facility improvements currently underway, Maryland International Raceway (MIR) needs your help with a special project dedicated to our youngest fans and future drag racers: the complete replacement of the track's 34-year-old playground.

Through a new community partnership, MIR has been working closely with St. Mary’s County Parks & Recreation. In a unique trade agreement, MIR will receive existing playground equipment from the county in exchange for marketing and promotions for the Wicomico Shores Golf Course and Restaurant, as well as other county recreation programs.

The Challenge
While the equipment itself is being provided through this partnership, the logistics of the renovation are a significant undertaking. To prepare the site for our families, MIR must manage:
- The removal of the donated playground set from a St Mary's County park and delivery to MIR.
- The removal and disposal of the existing equipment at MIR.
- The removal of outdated fencing and old ground surfacing.
- The purchase and installation of all-new safety materials, specialized ground covering, and new fencing.

How You Can Help
We are calling on our racing family and the local community to help us cross the finish line on this project. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing a safe, fun, and updated environment for the children who visit our facility every weekend.
There are two ways to contribute:

Direct Donation: Call the MIR office at 301-884-9833.

"Our future racers and fans deserve a space that is as exciting and safe as the track itself," said MIR owner, Royce Miller. "We are grateful for the support of St. Mary's County Parks and Recreation and look forward to seeing our community come together to build this for the kids."
