Maryland International Raceway (MIR) is excited to
announce the addition of the Sportsman Class to the 1320
Fabrication ET Series. Designed for vehicles running
7.00 and slower in the 1/8-mile, this new category will
compete at every scheduled 1320 Fabrication ET Series
event throughout the 2026 season.
The addition
of the Sportsman Class creates an exciting new bridge
for our racing community. It offers East Coast Collision
Midnight Madness racers a premier opportunity — in
addition to the Midnight Madness program — to compete
more frequently and become a formal part of the 1320
Fabrication ET Series family. Furthermore, it provides
Pro ET competitors the perfect chance to 'double-up' and
enter a second class on race day.
The 2026 Sportsman Champion will be honored at the
annual awards banquet and will receive a Track
Championship Trophy, an MIR Gold Card, and a year-end
points purse. Furthermore, MIR will be taking the Top 10
Sportsman Racers to the Northeast Summit ET Finals at
Lebanon Valley Dragway on August 27–29, 2026 to
represent the track.
To maintain the integrity of the class, the following
Class Rules & Regulations rules apply:
Electronics: No electronics permitted, including
throttle stops, delay boxes, or transbrakes. All delay
boxes must be physically removed from the vehicle.
Launch Control: No rear-wheel line locks. Two-steps are
permitted with manual transmissions. If used with an
automatic transmission, the two-step may only function
as a high-side rev limiter.
Equipment: Vehicles must feature factory glass,
functional headlights, mufflers, and a hood (fiberglass
permitted). Doors, fenders, and grills must be intact
per NED rules. Tires must be DOT-approved or slicks.
Safety: All drivers and vehicles must comply with
current NHRA rules and regulations.
