It was another year with crazy weather impacting the weekend going into the final 1320 Fabrication ET Series presented by East Coast Collision points race at the SealMaster Superchargers Showdown. With the unpredictable weather, we decided to cancel the Pro portion of the SealMaster Superchargers Showdown and felt confident that we would have time to get the 1320 Fabrication ET Series presented by East Coast Collision in with Championships on the line. Mother nature didn’t have the same plan, so we had to cancel Saturday’s race and adjust the schedule to run one points race on Sunday. The weather ended up being perfect on Sunday, giving our racers an opportunity to claim their championships.

...:: Top ET ::...

The Top ET Championship would come down to three people. Ray Snoots, Joey Mattera and Jason Kirby. The current points leader, Ray, was one point above Joey, and Jason was sitting 28 points behind Joey. Ray and Jason were smooth sailing through round one but the same can’t be said for Joey. Joey took the tree with a .004 reaction time to his opponents .036, however, Joey’s rear decided to fail, forcing him to pull over right around the 330’ mark, allowing his opponent to make the full pass, but he ran out giving Joey the win. Once Joey made it back to his pit space, he was greeted with a swarm of racers scrambling to make repairs to his dragster so he could make it back for 2nd round, where he would again turn on a win light.
The win lights for all three racers continued until 3rd round when Ray would come up short in a tight race. Ray would maintain the points lead if Joey were to be knocked out in the same round, however, that did not happen, giving Joey the points lead after round 3.
Now it’s down to Joey and Jason. Joey takes the tree in round 4 with Jason sitting in the water box behind him. Joey dialed a 4.90 and ran out with a 4.897 parking him for the day. Jason secures another win light and moves to round 5 to make things interesting as he had an opportunity to be the first person ever to win both Top and Mod ET championships in the same year, and with Jason’s hot streak… that wasn’t too far out of reach. All he would need to do is park his 70’s Nova in the winner’s circle one more time in Top ET and a double championship would be his. However, his dreams of a double championship fell short in 5th round giving Joey Mattera his 3rd Track Championship in Top ET without winning a race at all throughout the season but remaining consistent and going rounds each race made it possible.

Congratulations, Joey Mattera

...:: Mod ET ::...

Back to the Jason Kirby show! Going into the final points race of the season, Jason had a 62-point lead over Bobby Mattera. Bobby has been trying to keep up with Jason all season. However, Jason made that difficult since his double win at the Atomizer Racing Injectors Door Was presented by ATI Performance in both Top ET and Mod ET. Jason also found himself in the Mod ET winner’s circle at the 1320 Fabrication ET Series Spring Blowout, Burchoil Jet Wars, and the 1320 Fabrication ET Series Summer Blowout and one runner-up at the 1320 Fabrication ET Series. Jason locked up the championship early during the final points race giving him his 2nd track championship but 1st in Mod ET.

...:: Junior Dragster ::...

The Junior Dragster Championship was secured at the last Hubble Motorsports Junior Dragsters race back on September 21st at the 1320 Fabrication ET Series Summer Blowout presented by East Coast Collision.
By the end of Saturday, it would be down to two racers, Brandon Jenkins with 742 points and Calvin Weaver with 702 points. Brandon took a loss in the first round and found himself in re-entry where he would also fall short, parking him for the day. As Brandon now sits patiently waiting to see how Calvin does, he doesn’t have to wait too long before Calvin’s opponent drops a .000 to his .004 reaction time sending Calvin home and Brandon to the Winner’s circle for his 1st ever track Championship.
