Maryland International Raceway (MIR)
held their Awards Presentation and
Racer’s Party at the Hollywood
Volunteer Fire Department in
Hollywood, Maryland where the 2024
Track Champions were crowned
Saturday March 8, 2025.
The first award of the evening was
handed to one of MIR’s staff
members. The Employee Recognition of
Excellence was given to Wayne Kayne,
for his reliability, dedication and
flexibility.
The first set of champions to be
introduced were from the Late Model
Performance Midnight Madness series
which runs on select Friday nights.
First up was Mike Sweeney of Lusby,
Maryland who was awarded the Bracket
Bike Racing Matters Motorcycle Grand
Champion trophy and jacket. Gary
Moorman of Mechanicsville, Maryland
was the next to be introduced and
awarded the Grand Champion trophy
and jacket. The last champion in the
Midnight Madness program is Ricky
Shifflett of Zion Crossroads,
Virginia. He was awarded the Dental
Billing Group No Clock Street
Champion.
The final three to be introduced
were from the 1320 Fabrication ET
Series presented by East Coast
Collision. 18-year-old Austin Keys
of Nanjemoy, Maryland was announced
as the Hubble Motorsports Junior
Dragster Champion and received his
first MIR championship trophy
running in the Hubble Motorsports
Junior Dragsters. Next, for Mod ET,
Bobby Mattera of Waldorf, Maryland
was presented with his third Mod ET
MIR championship trophy. Bringing
his championship total to 4, with
his one in super pro in 1991.
Jeffrey Jones of King George,
Virginia was then called to the
stage to accept his first
championship trophy in Top ET. This
championship accompanies a division
one Summit Super Series championship
at Piedmont and a 20K Door Car Race
in Darlington.
In addition to the awards ceremony,
the racers’ party also included
cocktails, light refreshments and
snacks, 50/50 drawing, practice tree
races, door prizes and a scavenger
hunt for the juniors. It was a fun evening for
all and a great way to celebrate the
2024 season and turn the page to the
exciting 2025 schedule.
The 2025 1320 Fabrication ET Series
presented by East Coast Collision
kicks off Saturday, April 5th for a
double header weekend. MIR will also
host special ET weekends with the
inaugural Door Car Domination March
28-30, two King of the Creek 25k’s
events May 29-June 1 and September
4-7, four ET Series Blowout
Weekend’s, plus other multiple race
weekends and special events.

home for future Racers Parties.
