The first award of the evening was handed to one of MIR’s staff members. The Employee Recognition of Excellence was given to Wayne Kayne, for his reliability, dedication and flexibility.

The first set of champions to be introduced were from the Late Model Performance Midnight Madness series which runs on select Friday nights. First up was Mike Sweeney of Lusby, Maryland who was awarded the Bracket Bike Racing Matters Motorcycle Grand Champion trophy and jacket. Gary Moorman of Mechanicsville, Maryland was the next to be introduced and awarded the Grand Champion trophy and jacket. The last champion in the Midnight Madness program is Ricky Shifflett of Zion Crossroads, Virginia. He was awarded the Dental Billing Group No Clock Street Champion.

This championship accompanies a division one Summit Super Series championship at Piedmont and a 20K Door Car Race in Darlington.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the racers’ party also included cocktails, light refreshments and snacks, 50/50 drawing, practice tree races, door prizes and a scavenger hunt for the juniors. It was a fun evening for all and a great way to celebrate the 2024 season and turn the page to the exciting 2025 schedule.
